And the Winner Is...

Well hoo-ray!  Lindsay is our lucky little lady this morning.  Your cocktailing just got a little more chic!  Thank you to everyone who entered.  I am a gifty kind of gal so rest assured there will be mucho opportunity to getcha some Chez V love.  As I said on Friday, I enjoy making stuff and sharing it with my friends, and you, my dears, are quickly becoming just that!

Today is a scouting day which means I will be out and about looking for goodies and inspiration.   One question I get asked most often is where I do I find stuff.  The short answer is everywhere.  But specifically, I have some regular haunts that I scout frequently.  Tomorrow I will talk more about where I scout and the key to finding the good stuff.

Sally Wheat Interiors OKL Sale

Big fan of Sally Wheat.  Ever since learning of her via Cote de Texas, I have come to love her fresh take on the Houston Look.  She takes the tonal thing, embraces it and then throws it squarely on its head by injecting bright and shiny with a side of vintage swerve.  Lady’s got some nitrous under the engine.  She is having a OKL sale of which I completely forgot.  Luckily I happened to jump on the OKL site today and beheld all of her lovely wares, most of which have been rightfully snapped up.  Love all of her choices but these really caught my eye.

 

Shocker.  Animal print, art, brass, more animal print, guild, lucite, random plaster bust and pink.  No surprises here.

The Scout Report - Flea Finds

Fab Flea Finds and a Winner

Ducked into a few of my favorite little spots over the weekend and found a few notables along the way.  If only the purse strings weren’t crazy glued together!  Trust me when I tell you that that jar/vase situation was enormous and beyond awesome.  In fantasy land, I would put it on a pedestal and love it long time.

In other news, it would appear that I picked the worst weekend at the end of the most random blogging summer on record to do a giveaway.  Unofficial accounts have reported that about 2 people were reading blogs this weekend.  That’s good news for my die-hards b/c your odds were huge.  Thanks to you for sticking with me.

Congratulations to DAWN.  Lucky number 3.

For all my FB folks who cannot for the life of them figure out how to leave comments on a blog – I will do some sort of pop up giveaway via FB soon.  And for those that inquired about purchases, you can do so at any time.  When I get technically savvy I will have a BUY This button on the blog but until then either leave me a comment about anything you see or email me here.  I am planning on a pop up sale with limited quantity items perfect for holiday gift giving and entertaining shortly at Chez V.  Stay tuned for that.

The Scout Report - Runners

Momma Needs a New Weave or Three

It’s been WEEEEEEKS since I’ve had my hair did.  The dark rutz are almost past the point of no return and I can practically sit on my hair.  So, not a good look.  It’s also been WEEEEEEEKS since I’ve switched out my runners.  This magpie tires quickly.  Soooo…looking for something brightish and bossy to replace the milquetoast Ballard runner that currently resides in the kitchen.  And I am just plain over the one in my hallway.  These Persian weaves are some strong contenders…

I have two favs but I am interested in your opinion.  As a reminder, here are the current sitchs.

The Scout Report - Items on My Radar

The Scout Report or The Ones That Got Away

mr. V found the car of his dreams the other day on Craigslist. He is an avid car enthusiast with a penchant for old muscle cars and custom street rods, especially old wagons.  This particular car was a 50’s Nova wagon for a great price.  But having two old cars already in the garage, he just couldn’t justify jumping on the opportunity.  But he talked about it all day.  He returned to the pictures more than a few times.  The next day his resolve had crumbled enough that he wanted to show me the pictures.  And *poof* it was gone.  In less than 24 hours, the car of his dreams was gone.  His car buddy/mentor told him that he would have bought it regardless.  He advised that you just can’t pass up a one-of-a-kind good deal even if you don’t have the room or money for it.  ‘You find a way,’ he admonished.

I told mr. V that this is much the same way with antiques or vintage one-of-a-kind finds.  Sometimes you just can’t pass it up if you know it to be a great find/good deal/unique piece/something you love beyond comprehension  even if you don’t have a spot for it.  You will always find a place.  mr. V used to scoff when I would drag home yet another chair in need of more than just a little TLC or another lamp.  Or artwork, come to think of it.  But finally he sort of understands…

I am constantly on the lookout for interesting things.  And I usually snap them up if they are that good.  But there are those rare occasions that I am forced to let the ONE get away.  And it is devastating.
